As the co-founder of Atelier Mizuni, I've always believed in the importance of the fabric that breathes life into our designs. It's not just about the look; it's about how it feels, its impact on the environment, and its durability. This belief led us on a journey to select the finest materials for our collections, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and environmental responsibility.
The Linen
Our kimono dresses are a celebration of linen, a material known for its natural beauty and comfort. However, linen comes in many forms, and we've gone to great lengths to select the best for our dresses.
For the Black, Midnight blue, and Olive Green Kimono dresses, we use a special heavy Italian linen. This linen stands out because of its loose or open weave, giving our dresses a beautiful flow and making them less likely to wrinkle. It's the perfect fabric for those who appreciate the combination of durability and ease.
Our Dark Olive, Terracotta, Grey-blue, and Red Wine Kimono dresses are crafted from medium-weight premium European flax linen. This fabric is special not only for its softness, lightness, and breathability but also for its OEKO-TEX certification, ensuring it's free from harmful chemicals. While this linen is incredibly comfortable, it's a bit more prone to wrinkles, adding character to each piece.
Wool and Cashmere
Moving on to our kimono jackets, we've embraced the warmth and comfort of wool and cashmere. Sourced from circular materials in Italy, these fabrics are leftovers from luxury designers such as Loro Piana, Burberry, etc. which means we're giving new life to high-quality materials that might otherwise go to waste.
Our pure wool jackets are lightweight, making them ideal for the transitional seasons. They're soft to the touch and offer just the right amount of warmth for a crisp evening.
Our wool-cashmere blend jackets are made with a luxurious mix that enhances the softness, thanks to the addition of cashmere, and offers increased warmth. The medium weight of this fabric makes it ideal for colder days, combining elegance with practicality.
